When parents search for a top academic private school in Montreal, they are usually asking a simple question: will my child be genuinely challenged and genuinely supported, at the same time? At Académie Marie-Claire, we believe the answer lies less in any single ranking and more in the everyday habits of a school — how it teaches, how closely it watches each child’s progress, and how it celebrates the results.
Academic rigor at AMC starts with small class sizes. When a teacher knows every student’s strengths and gaps, instruction can move at the right pace for each child rather than at the room’s average pace. Our bilingual curriculum adds another layer of challenge that research consistently links to stronger problem-solving and flexible thinking, skills that carry well beyond the classroom.
We also believe achievement deserves to be seen. This spring, a group of AMC students placed impressively in the Kangaroo Math competition, an international contest that tests mathematical reasoning against students from dozens of countries. Results like these do not happen by accident. They are the product of teachers who build confidence in math from the earliest grades, and of a school culture where trying hard problems is normal, not intimidating.
This achievement is far from a one-time result. This year, two more AMC students were recognized in the AQJM mathematics competition: Ethan Wang (Grade 3) was invited to the awards ceremony in Quebec City for his outstanding participation, and Frank Meng (Grade 6) qualified for the final of the 40th AQJM International Championship in Milan, holding his own against students a full grade level ahead of him.
For families comparing schools, we encourage a simple exercise: ask not just about average grades, but about what happens to the student in the middle of the class, not only the student at the top. A truly strong academic environment lifts every learner, and that is the standard we hold ourselves to every day at AMC.
